We resequenced crews to finish hangers and supports and are pricing flanged swaps where the engineer will stamp it, just to keep the shutdown tie-ins on the Jan 12 window. Anyone else adjusting prefab releases or crew rotations to ride this out?
We’ve held shutdown dates by installing a “dummy” spool cut to the 8" BFV face-to-face plus couplings, then swapping the valve in a quick follow-up outage — ugly, but it keeps the music playing. When we can’t double-shutdown, we’ve gotten engineers to bless a wafer BFV sandwiched between two Vic-Flange adapters to hit the lay length: Victaulic Style 741 Flange Adapter - Flange Adapters Fittings. Caveat: confirm disc clearance and bolt pattern in submittals — would your engineer allow that or are they locked to grooved bodies?
Same boat in Austin — we kept a Jan 12 window by bringing in an 8" line‑stop crew (TEAM/STOPPLE) so we could tie in now and drop the BFV later without a second full shutdown. If the engineer’s flexible, a temporary UL/FM 8" grooved BFV from a sprinkler house (Viking/Core & Main) has landed faster for us than flanged swaps. @dmorales91’s workaround is solid, but the line‑stop route has been the least disruptive on our end.
