PEX A price spike at supply house

3/4-in jumped about 12% at Ferguson in Springfield at 7:30 a.m., and copper looks steady — how are you adjusting bids, and what are you drilling into apprentices about takeoffs and alternates when prices move mid-week? I’m having mine compare PEX vs Type L per run and document the swing before we cut pipe.

Same here; I’m adding a 5–8% “material escalator” and having the apprentices run takeoffs in a shared sheet that toggles PEX‑A vs Type L per run so the delta prints on the bid — ‘document the swing’ in dollars per run before we cut. Caveat: I lock fittings counts first because a pile of copper 90s can nuke any PEX savings. Anyone getting 24–48 hr price holds from your Ferguson rep, or is it surge pricing for pipe today?

Adding a 24‑hr hold after 7:30 shelf check; copper “steady” still gets alternates.
