On 3-inch PVC laterals I scope, the camera almost always hits a fuzzy halo of wipes 40–60 ft out, right after the second 45, and the 512 Hz locator reads about 2.5–3 ft deep… I jet with 4 gpm at 3,000 psi and rescope to confirm flow — curious if others see the same choke point.
I see the same on 3" runs — wipes love the eddy after the ‘second 45’ like lint on a dryer door, often over a shallow belly. If you can’t bump to 6–8 gpm or run a spinner, finish with a tub/toilet dump to carry the fluff; long-term, replacing the two 45s with a long-sweep 90 killed it for me on one retrofit.
At about 40–60’ after the “second 45”, I keep seeing wipes hung on the fitting’s inner stop, especially right where you’re reading 2.5–3’ — drives me nuts. When I’m stuck at 4 gpm/3,000 psi, I swap to a small rotating head and pulse the valve while pulling slow with a 3-in skid to blast the crown; if it mats back up, it’s usually a little belly and I leave this for the owner: https://www.iapmo.org/media/22954/nonwoven-wipes-and-plumbing.pdf.
Quick example: last week on a 3" PVC around 55’ my 512 read about 3’ and the wipes were parked there; at “4 gpm at 3,000 psi” I swap to a 3/16 hose with a 15° finisher and a tiny 3–5° forward to spear the mat, and it finally lifts — … If it rebuilds, I’ve usually found a Sch 40-to-SDR lip or a little glue icicle at the hub causing the snag, so I do a slow re-scope to spot it. @OP, have you tried the smaller hose for more jet velocity?
